Or rather, my neighbor’s v-twin functions effectively as my alarm clock. 5:04 am every day it starts, 5:06 it drives away.

In most towns, noise ordinances say that shit like that is a public disturbance if done before 7AM or after 9PM.
So if you wanted to stop him, you probably could. Just sayin’ because waking up anywhere close to 5AM sounds absolutely miserable to me.

My daughter has been showing her independence lately and decided to use her phone as her alarm clock. That is, until she dropped it. She came begging for her own alarm clock, so I dragged this bad boy out of the closet.
Ah, the dulcet screeches of a horn being cut in half with a buzz saw. Guaranteed to wake the dead.

I miss/hated those. Had my grandmothers old alarm for a long time. No teen could sleep through it

This. Behavior can play a big part of the annoyance, too.
I used to have a bike with straight pipes, and would start it in the garage with the door closed, then try to get off my street just above idle to make a little noise as possible.
Checked with my neighbors a few times a year to see if it bothered them.
They said it didn’t. I’m sure it was audible, but I’m assuming as long as I wasn’t being an asshole about, they didn’t mind.

It was standard issue for many years. I was surprised to discover that my girlfriend (now my wife) had one too. After we got married, we had matching alarm clocks! Hers was eventually replaced with a fancy one that played CDs and mine was replaced by my phone. It was immensely satisfying to drag out the old alarm clock and place it by my daughter’s bed. (cue the evil laugh track....)

Haha. That first time waking up to that beast was terrifying.

First time? Try EVERY TIME! I hated the sound of that alarm, but I have to admit it worked. It’s one alarm I never wanted to snooze.

Oh, it’s BLUBBLUBBLUB for two minutes.

Literally the same model I grew up with. If that’s anything like mine, the switch contacts are bad and setting the time is nearly impossible.

My daughter had some trouble setting the alarm, but I got it to work without trouble. I figured that she wasn’t pressing hard enough. I never thought about the contacts going bad.

My neighbor does this at 7am on the dot every morning in his goddam truck. I wish it was any other time because 7am to 7:05am is the time I take to actually wake up and get out of bed. It is a very delicate time for me.
Writing that I realize I need to start my day ten minutes earlier, which will solve the problem and reduce my rush in the morning. OMG OPPO solved a small part of my life!

I could send you that exact picture, right now... I’m still using mine from when I was a youth.
